Backup & Restore problems Problem: Unable to restore a previous database backup. Problem: Getting message "No source drive specified" when restoring a database backup. This occurs most often when the database is being transferring to a new computer and the required setup file has not yet been initialized. Cause Solution |
| How
do I install or transfer ReserveRight to a different computer? 1. Backup the database on the original computer. 2. Install the ReserveRight program on the new computer using your program installation disks. 3. Start the ReserveRight program on the new computer. 4. Navigate to Main Menu, System Setup, General Operating Procedures, Backup / Restore Options. This step creates a default setup profile that then lets you restore the original computer's database to the new computer. 5. Navigate to Main Menu, Management Utilities, Restore Database from a Previous Backup, Restore Reservation Database. Insert disk 1 when you're instructed to. |
| How
to setup ReserveRight to work with Multiple Databases The ReserveRight program files are located in directory "\RVSLIB" whereas the default database is located in directory "\RSVLIB\FILES". The user may create additional database directories. All database directories, including the default, must be sub-directories of "\RSVLIB". Example: Suppose the user wants a separate database for their lodge. Since their campground database exists in the default "\RSVLIB\FILES" directory, the user needs to create a database directory for the lodge. The following instructions (for the Windows 98 operating system) demonstrate how to setup the system to handle this situation. 1. First install and setup the
ReserveRight program for the campground. 2. Create a Desktop shortcut Icon
for the campground and name it CampG. 3. Create a Desktop shortcut Icon
for the Lodge and name it Lodge. |
